Managing Director

Andrew Heller is a qualified Chartered Accountant and serves as Managing Director of Bisichi Mining PLC. After joining the company in 1994, Andrew was appointed an Executive Director in 1999. Andrew has over 20 years’ experience in the Mining industry and has been involved in coal mining in South Africa since 1994.

Director of Mining

Robert joined the company in 2000 as General Manager of Black Wattle Colliery and was appointed Director of Mining of Bisichi Mining PLC in 2008. Robert is a Certificated Coal Mine Manager with over 40 years coal mining experience and is a member of the Engineering Council of South Africa.

Finance Director

Garrett Casey joined the Board of Bisichi Mining PLC in 2010 after starting at the company as Group Finance Manager in 2008. Garrett qualified as a Chartered Accountant in South Africa and has had previous roles in both the European and South African property sector as well as the accounting profession.

Chairman

Sir Michael Heller is a qualified Chartered Accountant and serves as Executive Chairman of the Board of Bisichi Mining PLC. Sir Michael became an Executive Director in 1972 and Executive Chairman in 1981. Sir Michael was knighted in the 2013 New Year Honours List for Philanthropy.

The strong performance of Black Wattle, our South African coal mining operation, can be attributed to increased mining production from our opencast reserves and the successful completion of coal infrastructure improvements to our washing plant. This allowed the group to benefit from the higher prices achievable for our coal, particularly in the second half of the year.
